Working the night shift as a toll collector on a lonely stretch of highway in Buffalo, New York, Henry (KEANU REEVES) is a man seemingly without ambition, dreams or purpose; a man sleepwalking his way through life. He gets his wakeup call early one morning when he becomes an unwitting participant in an ill-conceived bank heist. Rather than give up the names of the real culprits, Henry takes the fall and goes to jail. There, he meets the irrepressible Max (JAMES CAAN), a con man who's grown far too comfortable with the familiarity and security of his 'idyllic' life behind bars, but one who also helps plant an idea in Henry's mind which will change his life forever: for a man to find his purpose, he must first have a dream. Upon his release one year later, Henry finds his purpose. Having done the time, he decides he may as well do the crime. Discovering a long forgotten bootlegger's tunnel which runs from the very same bank to a theater across the alleyway, he convinces the reluctant Max to file for his long overdue parole -- and then recruits his former cellmate to help stage a robbery. Their plan is simple: by infiltrating the theater and its current production of Chekhov's, The Cherry Orchard, the unlikely duo will buy just enough time to dig their way to the adjacent bank vault and drive off with their loot. Unfortunately that plan also includes Henry taking the lead role in the play, where he finds himself slowly falling for the production's mercurial leading lady, Julie (VERA FARMIGA). By turns wry, off-beat, and simply hilarious, HENRY'S CRIME is the heartwarming story of a man who finds his purpose in life. And then finds his destiny. -- (C) Moving Pictures

Don (David James Elliot) and Nancy (Heather Marsden) are traveling down a lonely stretch of road late one night when a car appears out of the darkness, and crashes right into them. Stranded, they phone the local police for help, and Sheriff Taylor (Fahey) directs them to a nearby motel where they can stay overnight, until the local repair shop opens the following morning. Unfortunately for the weary couple, their nightmare has only just begun. The owner of the motel is a man named Carter (Madsen) who makes his living on blood money, and controls everything that goes on in the backwoods town. It was no coincidence that Sheriff Taylor brought Don and Nancy to Carter's hotel, because that's where the locals go to get their sick thrills. Soon after the young couple checks in, they come under attack from a gang of brutal killers who slaughter stranded travelers for fun. Now, if Don and Nancy can make it to the parking lot, they can simply drive away. But no one before them has ever made it out alive, and the closer it gets to dawn, the more it begins to look as they won't be the first to break the bloody tradition. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Yellow Submarine is an animated meandering journey filled with puns and dry British humor, where psychedelic music videos take precedent over any linear story. What little there is of a plot, however, concerns a vibrantly colored place called Pepperland that resembles the album cover for Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band come to life. The swirling animation is a mixture of pop-culture images and modern artistic styles brought loosely together with a naive antiwar message and some clever political commentary. The Blue Meanies take over Pepperland, draining it of all its color and music, firing anti-music missiles, bonking people with green apples, and turning the inhabitants to stone by way of the pointed finger of a giant white glove. As the only survivor, the Lord Admiral escapes in the yellow submarine and goes to London to enlist the help of the Beatles (voiced by actors). The charming and innocent boys travel through strange worlds and meet bizarre characters, including the tagalong Nowhere Man. Several blissed-filled musical sequences and drug references later, the Beatles drive out the Blue Meanies and restore Pepperland to tranquility armed with only music, love, and witty remarks. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi

In 1919, Hart Crane said of Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio: "America should read this book on her knees. It is a chapter in the Bible of her consciousness." The Last Soul on a Summer Night is a contemporary reinterpretation of the antique narrative with an African American cast and a dash of ecstatic reality. This critically acclaimed adaptation of one of the most highly regarded books in the history of American literature, tells the story, almost in mythical fashion, of lost and lonely souls taken to a Chicago Heights boarding house where layfolk and churchfolk alike struggle with their personal demons. It is a journey of self discovery where a man takes a truth to himself...
