Blue jeans, sock-hops and drive-in movies: the Fifties were America's age of innocence. But stalking the depths of its post-nuclear bliss, mass paranoia became fuel for Joseph McCarthy's brand of Red Scare terror propaganda. Bomb shelters were a deluxe feature in every American home, government-sponsored educational reels promised an imminent nuclear threat from across the Atlantic, and Hollywood, Babylon of the western world, hung on the brink of collapse. It was here, in the last-ditch machinations of a dying juggernaut, that a mild-mannered, civil engineer's son would become the most influential force in modern moviemaking. Corman's World tracks the triumphant rise of Hollywood's most prolific writer-director-producer, the true godfather of independent filmmaking. -- (C) Official Site

Hollywood discovered Peggy-Jean Montgomery when she was 19 months old and made her a star by the age of two. By the time she was six, she had made more than 150 popular shorts and a star of feature films. In fact, she was one of the most popular stars in Hollywood with a line of Baby Peggy products sold in stores around the world. By the age of 11, however, she was a has-been, forced to work eight shows a day in Vaudeville. And soon, like rival silent film star Jackie Coogan, she was broke, her money squandered by her family. Over the course of the next six decades she reinvented herself as Diana Serra Cary, a respected film historian and advocate for laws protecting child performers. With narration co-written by Cary, Vera Iwerebor's documentary combines rare clips from Baby Peggy's films - most of which were lost when her first studio, Century, burned in 1926 - with a personal glimpse of a woman who lost her childhood to the movies. -- (C) Official Site

The glamour of old Hollywood meets the glitz of contemporary Tinseltown in writer/director Bernard Rose's adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's short story Two Hussars. It seemed like a lifetime ago when celebrated movie director Jack Hussar (Danny Huston) swept the gorgeous Diana (Sienna Miller) off her feet during a whirlwind trip to Hollywood to raise financing for his latest film. From the wild industry parties to the tense poker game at sunrise, that night was the stuff of legends. Years later, Jack Hussar Jr. (Jack Huston) shows up in Hollywood eager to bankroll his feature debut. As the present begins to echo the past, an aging Diana (Jacqueline Bisset) watches sentimentally while Jack Jr. sweeps her daughter off her feet with the same charisma as his legendary father. Before this night is over, a whole new chapter in Hollywood history will be written. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Bert Stern, also known for his seminal film Jazz on a Summer's Day, experienced a meteoric career that began as a mailroom-boy at Look Magazine, where he formed a close relationship with young staff photographer Stanley Kubrick. The launch of Stern's career and the Golden Age of Advertising would coincide with Stern's iconic and legendary "Driest of the Dry" campaign for Smirnoff in 1955. Set against the backdrop of the Egyptian pyramids, this ad would sell more vodka than Smirnoff had dreamed, transforming America into a martini-sipping country and launching Stern to star photographer status at the age of 25. Sought after by Madison Avenue, Hollywood, and the international fashion scene, Bert was at the heart of what creative director George Lois called "the creative evolution." His groundbreaking images of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy and the infamous Lolita image from Kubrick's film, coupled with his astonishing success in advertising, minted Stern - along with Irving Penn and Richard Avedon - as a celebrity in his own right.

Upon awakening, she wonders if she isn't, in fact, lost in a dream. And perhaps she is. Regardless of whether she is dreaming or wide awake, Our Gal sets off on her journey, from one person to the next, one famous locale after the other. Among the Hollywood fringe denizens with whom she comes into contact are a pair of tour guides (Charley Rossman, John Brickner), two super hero impersonators (Catherine Bruhier, Riley Weston), a Scientology auditor (Joe Roseto), and a memorabilia shop owner (R.J. Cantu). She also finds herself disquietingly followed by a Stranger (Kirk Bovill) who may be real or a figment of her unsteady imagination. Although her feet only fleetingly leave Hollywood Boulevard, by sundown Our Gal will piece together the revelatory truth about her existence and the reason for her awakening, forcing her to make choices that will literally result in either her life... or death. In their heart-breaking portrayals of two veterans of the boulevard and all it represents, FOOTPRINTS marks the return to the big screen of The Searchers' Pippa Scott and H. M.
