Scooby and the gang have their first musical mystery in Scooby Doo: Song of the Vampire. It begins when they take a sing-a-long road trip into bayou country to attend the Vampire-Palooza Festival an outdoor fair dedicated to all things Draculian. At first it looks as if they're in for some fun and lots of Southern snacks, but events soon turn scary when a real live vampire comes to life, bursts from his coffin and threatens all the townsfolk. On top of that, this baritone blood sucker seems intent on taking Daphne as his vampire bride! Could the vampire be a descendant of a famous vampire hunter who is trying to sell his book? Or perhaps he's the local politician, who has been trying to make his name in the press by attacking the vampires as downright unwholesome. The answers are to be found in a final song-filled showdown in the swamp in which our heroes unmask one of their most macabre monsters yet.

During its Golden Age in the 1960s and early 70s, the Cambodian film industry produced hundreds of feature films - vibrant, energetic movies that incorporated drama, romance, fantasy, and, almost always, elaborate musical numbers and indelible songs - which drew large and devoted audiences. With the rise of the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime in the mid-70s, this cinematic legacy was nearly eradicated - the theaters forcibly closed, the majority of the films destroyed, the directors, writers, and actors largely imprisoned, exiled, or executed. Davy Chou's highly accomplished documentary, GOLDEN SLUMBERS, is hence an invaluable work of cultural excavation and preservation. Through clips from the handful of surviving films, audio recordings of their soundtracks, visits to some of the sites where the films were shot or exhibited, and above all, extended interviews with the filmmakers, producers, performers, and devoted cinephiles who together created and sustained Cambodian film culture during its Golden Age, Chou reconstructs this tragically but intriguingly lost world. Himself the grandson of one of the leading film producers of the time, Van Chann, Chou is no distanced observer, and GOLDEN SLUMBERS is a deeply committed chronicle of a chapter of film (and world) history that can only be directly apprehended in bits and pieces today, but that continues to exist in the memories and stories of its surviving creators and devotees.(c) Icarus

Israel goes from a young, optimistic, albeit naive nation, to one in which the realities of middle-age (and worse) settle in. There is a description of "shell-shock"; a young soldier who declares "God bless morphine"; images of a relative "killed in a terrorist attack at about age 30"; the demolition of a minaret and discussion of whether it was a holy site; David Ben-Gurion visiting transit camps in 1956, and glimpses throughout of Ariel Sharon, Moshe Dayan, and Anwar Sadat. Perhaps nowhere in the world could home movies so intimately reflect the changing political face of a nation. As early as the late 1970s, one feels that tragedy has become the norm, that life inevitably leads to death and that - in Israel as we have known it - peace inevitably leads to war. (c) Alma Films

Bert Stern, also known for his seminal film Jazz on a Summer's Day, experienced a meteoric career that began as a mailroom-boy at Look Magazine, where he formed a close relationship with young staff photographer Stanley Kubrick. The launch of Stern's career and the Golden Age of Advertising would coincide with Stern's iconic and legendary "Driest of the Dry" campaign for Smirnoff in 1955. Set against the backdrop of the Egyptian pyramids, this ad would sell more vodka than Smirnoff had dreamed, transforming America into a martini-sipping country and launching Stern to star photographer status at the age of 25. Sought after by Madison Avenue, Hollywood, and the international fashion scene, Bert was at the heart of what creative director George Lois called "the creative evolution." His groundbreaking images of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy and the infamous Lolita image from Kubrick's film, coupled with his astonishing success in advertising, minted Stern - along with Irving Penn and Richard Avedon - as a celebrity in his own right.

Hollywood discovered Peggy-Jean Montgomery when she was 19 months old and made her a star by the age of two. By the time she was six, she had made more than 150 popular shorts and a star of feature films. In fact, she was one of the most popular stars in Hollywood with a line of Baby Peggy products sold in stores around the world. By the age of 11, however, she was a has-been, forced to work eight shows a day in Vaudeville. And soon, like rival silent film star Jackie Coogan, she was broke, her money squandered by her family. Over the course of the next six decades she reinvented herself as Diana Serra Cary, a respected film historian and advocate for laws protecting child performers. With narration co-written by Cary, Vera Iwerebor's documentary combines rare clips from Baby Peggy's films - most of which were lost when her first studio, Century, burned in 1926 - with a personal glimpse of a woman who lost her childhood to the movies. -- (C) Official Site

The fairy Carabosse places a curse upon the child- saying at sixteen the girl will prick her hand and die. Three younger and somewhat scatterbrained fairies alters the curse so that instead of dying, Anastasia will sleep for 100 years.
